And how much you care about the longevity of the engine.

Well, it can theoretically produce similar to the 350excf as its the same motor ? Just different air filter setup unless I am mistaken so power shouldn't be an issue, should it ?
How fast do you wanna go ? Road limit is 110, doing that in single track would be interesting ?

My thoughts would be that you'd have to intend on using a freeride/fun bike for its intended purpose, which does not necessarily mean replacing a 450F.

Besides, if you're tricky enough, you can do everything on a KTM300 that you can do on a freeride.

The amount of horsepower still limits speed. You're not gunna do 140 with 20 hp.

I have been riding the wife's freeride lately as my 250 exc is waiting for parts (after being endoed off a jump!)
I have been surprised by the freeride, it's an amazingly easy bike to ride and rides reasonably fast as well. It definitely lacks the power of the traditional enduro bikes but it seems to make up for it by being able to hold it's momentum much easier through turns and it really does flatter the rider in the more technical terrain/single track. As far as the tyres go, I haven't ridden it in the wet yet, but they have amazing traction in the dry.
Would it replace my 250 exc? Probably not as I love the 2t, but I would seriously consider it if i generally rode all single track.

ps it's gets about 90 km out of a tank.
