Thumbs up MPE Suspension Upgrade

Have recently purchased an 01 model Ktm 300 Exc. On its maiden ride it was quickly obvious that the suspension was way too soft for my weight ( 84kg plus gear ). Had never had suspension done by professionals before so gave the job to Paul at MPE at Beerwah in Qld.

Essentially they changed the springs to .46 on the front and an 8.4 shock spring. They reworked the the compression , rebound and midvalve dampning and replaced fluids ,shims and seals. Total price ride in ride out was $ 700.00

Went for my first ride on the new set up today and what a difference.

Things I noticed in order of riding.

1- Smooth and supple over the small stuff like small roots and small ruts.
2- Could hit G outs and not be scared anymore , doesn't appear to bottom out or try and kick back , just glides thru it.
3- Downhills were no longer scary and could cruise down with confidence.
4- Whoaboys or erosion mounds were actually put there to be fun things and not your worst enemies
5- Good size rocks and tree roots do not kick you offline anymore.
6-Brakes seem to work better due to bike not diving savigely when applied.
7- Bike never got out of shape no matter what the terrain.
8- My front tyre ( which is getting pissed off after today ) attempted to wash out about 20 times today. Some only small but some very large attempts. In each case the suspension pulled back straight and true and saved my arse biting the dust heaps.
9- The Waterpipe ( Rock infested snotty rock faced hill ) is easier than ever with the suspension soaking it all up and letting you concentrate on traction rather than perfect line selection.
10- Big Red ( Just a big mother rutted hill ) was attempted for the first time by me on a bike that I have ridden now 2 times and was conquered straight up.
11- Not holding up anyone anymore and now keeping up with the rest of the pack - big difference from the first ride.

Yes I am a very happy chappy and would not hesitate to do it straight up on another bike.

It would appear that I have blown a front fork seal , however closer inspection is still required. If this is so I shall contact MPE and post up results.

If you ar considering getting your suspension done just go and do it.

Cheers

Brad

Sounds like it was well worth it Brad.

If I wasn't so tight I'd get it done myself!

I have a CRF250 you can do it to if you're so keen

Have you got a number for him. I'd like to get mine done before the Grasscutter ride if he's not too busy.
