2009 Husky TE310

Picked up a 2009 TE310 on Friday and headed up to Booral for our club's AGM and Presentation weekend. It rained most of Friday night and on Saturday, so was very wet conditions, but that's what I like, so all was good. On Saturday morning, I did a bit of pre-maintenance. Changed the side shrouds, removed the ADR compliant rear light, checked the tire pressure, oil, adjusted the levers, and adjusted the free play in on the rear brake lever. I started to change the radiator shrouds and the lug on the tank stripped while I was removing it. The spare tank shrouds and rear mud guards have changed from 08 (Dealer did not know) so they did not fit and I had to use the originals. Checked the petrol and to my surprise, it was full.

I went sweep for Saturday's ride, to run the bike in, so just cruised around all day. Everything felt just right and in place, so was quite happy. I did move the handle bars forward. On Sunday it was blue skies, sunshine and nice wet tracks.

So what’s good about the TE310?

• Strong Awesome motor
• Stable, well balance suspension
• Brakes, very strong front and strong rear
• Rear grab holes
• Good Controls Layout
• Awesome traction
• Good torque, climbs hills well
• Light

And what’s not so good

• Tank Shroud Graphics
• Tank Lugs where the tank shrouds screw into
• Has a Key
• Pull clutch in to start
• No fuel tap for reserve (maybe dash light)
• Air filter access
• Side stand a little too long
• Black tank, no idea how much petrol is in there
• Left hand side exhaust

What’s to watch out for?

• Exhaust is on the left. Weary of this as you always get on, off and pick up the bike from the left side so you don’t want to burn yourself or your pants.
• The gear lever end bit is too short outwards.

Modifications that I did

• Rear disk guard
• Modified (Shorter) Rear silencer inner pipe

Modifications that I will do

• Remove pull in clutch to start (what a stupid idea)
• Roc Stomper foot pegs
• New Kenny Signs Graphics
• EGO Bark Busters
• Replace handle bar wiring blocks with single press buttons for start and off
• Replace rear brake light for smaller unit
• Front Exhaust protection (from burns)
• Front Metzler 6 Day Tyre
• Rear IRC M5B Tyre
• Mousses

I spoke to the dealer yesterday, and he is replacing the tank and tank shrouds.

Great stuff, excellent photos! Is that LH Rear sideplate especially small? Looks like the pipe is pretty exposed, I can see why you are concerned about burning yourself on it. Shame about the stripped bolts and good to see the dealer looking after you.

The 310 is injected isn't it? No fuel tap required. There should be a low fuel warning light though.

The key is a pretty small one and looks to be mostly out of the way. No real harm in a key I'd have thought. Lets face it if you crash big enough to hurt the switch block you're doing other damage that will be more serious.

Looks lovely, I hope you enjoy!!

Firstly, nice choice.
Secondly, what has made you go from a Katie to a Husky, and from a 525cc capacity down to a 300cc capacity. Just interested in your thought process. Also, did you consider the Beemer450X or the 09 'Berg?
