klx250 mods
step 1. de-restrict bike at pre delivery or do yourself.(you need to get the carby slide out and fill in the two small holes that are on the side of the slide and fill in with metal putty etc, or you can buy a slide without holes from your dealer and fit that. This mod makes the biggest improvement of any mods available and gives better response and allows the bike to rev freely and would increase performance by approximately 30% eg:105kph topspeed in restricted form- 140kph topspeed in de-restricted form.
step 2. Remove snorkel from airbox or remove airbox lid completely but jet accordingly for new air fuel ratio. This mod makes a small but noticeable difference. step 3. Take off stock exhaust and ram it up the kwaka dealers ring hole, then fit less restrictive system either slip on or full. step 4. Now that you have got a decent platform you have to get the fueling right so get yourself a good jetkit and use reccomended needles and jets. If you do this right like I did (I used dynojet) it makes the throttle response crisp and instant compared to stock and you will notice a power gain. All these mods turn your klx from a deadset shitheap into a bike that is somewhat rideable but still no wr etc. Get a 50 tooth rear cog and your set. |

yeh 300cc kit is great but big dollars and im happy with where mines at now
step 6. Handlebar risers and new bars make it so easy to ride standing and just alot more room. step 7. take off rear adr fender and throw in bin, get edge tail light kit which removes all the crap thats not needed and tidys up tail section. My bike stands up the front in 1st and 2nd now where in stock form it wouldnt in 1st so power is up alot with these basic mods which all up are under a $600. The handling is still sketchy but roomier and makes long rides tolerable for around $180 in mods. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlEE7KQMKQg also get rid of stock tyres if you intend on doing any serious off road riding, dunlop 606's are what I have now and are alot better than stock 605 but still not great. Well this is as much as Im doing to mine as I will get a new bike soon thats lighter and faster. Goodluck fellas with your klxs |

Hi Yarra,
the bike's doing weell...done lots of clims after I've done up the bike. Carb: main 128, pilot 38 and changing the needle jet to N1TC this weekend. (no 2 holes on the side of the silde, but i did drill through the smaller hole on the bottom of the slide with DJ #32 drill. Exhaust: Changed to TBR racing with P1-X power tip. Air filter : KDX 200 snorkel, with No Toil air filter element. Tank: Clarke's 2.7gal tank. Tires: Bridgestone Gritty ED 12 rear and Ed15 front. This bike rocks........ Thanks all...great and tips. |
