07-2010 are the same apart from graphics i was in the same boat about 12 months ago was going to buy s/h to save money until missus said if your goin to spend $8000-$9000 for a bike that you cant be really sure how its been looked after you might as well buy brand new and you will know the bike then so i did point is do what you can afford p.s. upside is its a great feeling when you pick up a brand newy from the shop although it doesnt take long for that new look to dissapear

They are all the same from 07 to 11 apart from stickers and engine case colour on the 07. As for Kms, a well looked after WR450 should be good for 10000 to 15000kms without major issues. There are always exceptions though. Ive put owned 6 Wrs and never had any major problems and they have always sold quickly when its time to update.
The lower the Kms, the less chance that it has been abused, but it all depends on your budget and whats available.

A 07 to 08 model will be $7000 to $8000 normally. New they are around $12000 or maybe less if you get a deal. If you pick up a second hand bike with lots of extras, It can make it a even more attractive option. As its been said before, they are only new until you ride them!

I was in the buy new or s/'h delemer a few months back. I ended up getting a s/h model (year isn't reliovant...bling ank KM are relevant). It had the suspension done professionally (fixed the WR fork issue), jetting was sorted, new plastics and a new exhaust. 4000km, newish tyres, 12 months rego. An I actually got a reasonable trade in ....I'm pretty happy with it. Paid the higher end of the value scale...but more than happy. I reckon I saved heaps...resale still reasnable too. Everyone w ants a WR..at least for their first bike.

The only prpoblem I had was the tree I hit and destroyed the RHS radiator...that surely must have been a warranty claim

Go to your yamaha dealer wr ar on 5.99% and a free washer work it out over 4 years just buy new no headache get it jetted and just ride, peace of mind for $10 a week look after it and it will last for years easy to service and are bullet proof . If u buy a s/h u might save a few bucks, new its yours and u know its service and looked after GOOD LUCK great bikes check finance it might work out cheaper at the bank ?

WR forks...not to difficult to ride fast enough or hit things fast enough to see the bottom...not sure of the technical description, but they pass through the stroke to quickly on big hits...I spent hours fiddling with my first WR to get it reasonable...spent the $ and get it done...best money ever spent on a dirt bike...mine still amazes me what I can get away with.

Totally agree with burner, I put Race Tech Gold Valves into mine and it is a totally different bike to ride now. Very happy
