Big Bores, Burra and Beers

Just out of the shower after a full day's ride from Gawler to Burra and back. Had an absolute ball doing just over 300 kms of trails, tracks and including some knarly sections of rocks and pot holes and Masterbrewer inspired zig zagging around the countryside.

Lev (DR650) Gregory (TTR250) PB49 (Husky 610) Masterbrewer (TDM850) and yours truly on the Tenere 660 started from Gawler at 0800 this morning and wound our way around to the back of Kapunda until we picked up Taylors Run Rd through to Marrabel and along Inspiration Point passed Robertstown and up the Old Burra Rd into Burra. Fast, flowing and great fun as the temp started to rise but wasn't giving us a hard time - yet.

First problem arose when we found the bakery closed!!!!! but were rescued when we found a little place called......CookoBurra...great Cornish pasties and a flat white for me...nice and relaxing.

Back towards Gawler with the Master map reader guiding us from east, to west, to north west and south along various tracks and trails towards our goal - a cold beer at my place. As the thirst set in so did the hurry and we made it back to my back verandah just after 3pm. Ice cold draughts and some amusing conversations about the ride.

I managed to hit the new tail tidy on the SAME erosion channel as Boxing Day and although it still bottomed out I kept everything in place - even though I lost the old number plate along the way - but no big deal seeing as the new one arrives this week.

Am very happy with the 660 and it tracked and bounced its way around. The Ohlins rear shocker/spring are a must and will be ordered from the UK very soon.

We've been promising ourselves, and finally did it today, we did Taylors Run Rd from start to finish on the way home .....bloody fantastic stretch of road and will become a regular on our Sunday runs.

Photographs to follow. No doubt MB will add to the story but he's currently winding his way down the Main North Rd making his way home.......

Sounds like a good ride Trev, been thinking about doing that after hitting taylors run and checking on google maps. But I was thinking of heading back to the east more and coming through worlds end, ever been out that way...A GPS would be the go though I thinks...But maybe I could wing it after studying Google maps before heading out...

Had a good ride myself today with Jizza and a few of the boys, headed out Kapunda way and back over to Truro via Mollys track and back. Oh yeah Jizza Got a flat....

cheers Bill..

Looks fun Trev.

We had a good ride today aside from me taking about ten minutes of a shit handling bike to realise I had a flat front tyre.

Andy came along with us for the morning also........you taught me well as I happened to have the video rolling and captured a not very glorious moment for Andy climbing a rock ledge in Kamikaze Canyon.

Will post some video later tonight, pretty sure a few guys took a little too much pleasure in filming me trying to change my first tyre, cudos to Billy and Sol for helping out.

Dust.........heaps of dust.
