Thank you Spac. I'll admit I check in less and less these days to DBW. It's old articles are definitely of most interest to me these days. I, like many others regularly search bike topics on google and more often than not DBW has a relevant answer for my questions. Cheers.

Was pretty sad to be honest when I saw the thread about the closure.
Have been a member since I was 15 and now I’m nearly 29.

Have never not had a dirtbike but don’t get out as much as I want but DBW is definitely a massive base for information that I keep coming back for haha.

Very happy to see its staying around indefinitely

I'm pleased you own DBW Spac & I'm convinced you're not a tyrant:
    If I did, I may be?.. Load a vBulletin® & have a fiddle... I must/would.

    vBulletin®-program is minuscule: You're the Boss: So-be the-Boss:
Load a duplicate vBulletin® onto your 'puter & have a decent fiddle.

    Edit: I'm not saying dictate/dictator: I am saying suss-how vBulletin®
If I were you ... I'd suss full-power over all & everything... You should.

Edit: As an example of enabling DBW to move/adapt to modern times:
    I'd enable poper his-private invitation-only section; that-blind to google.

We shouldn't/can't compete with the likes of FaceBook; nor should we try:
We can offer an alternative in ways & means Facebook never can nor will.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quote = BIGBADAL "If you dont have DBW saved in an obvious spot on your device it falls of the radar ."
That's actually pretty profound, imo, BIGBADAL... Please elaborate... For those of us/our being oblivious.
Edit: I wasn't being sarcastic nor belittling you there... I'm genuinely interested as to why DBW has faded.

Agree, so many of my Google searches for bike related stuff bring up DBW threads which are usually quite helpful in answering technical queries such as jetting/jet sizes/mods/parts interchange etc.
    A fantastic resource.
Most ride groups are FB/WhatsApp based and these are good for organising local rides or allowing new members/riders to access trails without a "public broadcast"

Hosting is the main cost, albeit it at a good rate from “one of us”. vBulletin licence is also a cost.

The volume of traffic contributes more to the cost than the size of the archive. Everyone involved is loathe to kill of the older threads, because it is impossible to predict when they will be useful.
Keg said to me that he’s Googled for info and found the info on DBW, sometimes stuff that he’d written. I have had the same experience.

So... there are plans to streamline the forums, but overall it is on track to keep it alive indefinitely.
