Your most recent ride?

We spend a lot of time talking about bikes, but bot so much about riding, so I am wondering what fellow DBWers are *actually* doing on their bikes.

What was your last ride like?

Was it hard or easy, solo or a cast of thousands? Local or distant? Riding with mates or strangers? Long or short? Recent or ages ago? Any dramas or no hassles? How does this compare to your usual riding?


To get the ball rolling: mine was an easy, hassle free ride over 80km with a few mates just before NYE. Single track, logging track, fire roads and some tar.
It rained late in the day which ramped the difficulty up and I really enjoyed it.
About 2.5 hour drive from home, but literally rode out the driveway at my dad’s place.

Sunday arve: Hard, steep, slow, hot, solo, about 3 hrs - 20kms.
Sunday morning: Fast(ish), mixed terrain, with 6 others (1 I work with, 1 ex-stranger & 4 regulars, aged from 18 - 52) also about 3 hrs - 80kms.
Saturday & Friday: solo, hard, steep & rocky mixed with 2nd & 3rd gear hoop pine ST, about 9 hrs for both days - 80kms.

All within a 1/2 hr drive.

I dont have pure dirt bikes anymore so i can get on and ride anytime...handy cos i dont live anywhere near any tracks

Last ride is one of the loops we have on the Mornington Peninsula. Tomorrow we are hitting the mountains in Vic no specific plan.

WTF. That is more riding in one weekend that I do in a few months and all within 30mins drive - very jealous!!

i havent been on the dirt bike in a couple of months i reckon. bought an e-mtb so been riding that in the bush mostly. last dirt bike ride was pretty cruisy. few mates, leisurely pace, heaps of chat breaks, mostly extreme terrain. probably covered 15km in 3-4 hours. pretty usual for my rides these days. either free riding or the hardest tracks i can find but never a serious pace. half a day most times. i can ride out my driveway to the end of the street where the bush starts so pretty easy - come back, park the bike then go for a surf at the beach at the other end of my street. few good mtb tracks here now so been hitting those on the e bike. average loop is about 25km and takes about 1.5-2 hours.

I was determined to kick the year off with a bang knowing full well that it was going to be all down hill from Monday.
Hadn't ridden for a month except for 20mins on the track here at home, it's been too hot.

Had ridden every weekend from May through to late November though, trying to make up for not riding for most of my 30's.
A lot of those are solo rides, because my mates are all pussy whipped, broken or plain fcking soft.

On that note, if anyone wants riding company anywhere from Kalpowar to Kenilworth, sing out... could be tempted down as far as Glasshouse or Bellthorpe for that matter.

I do 5 laps on my mx/ST/enduro track, then 10 minutes of wheelies, finishing off with 10 stopies , repeat with a 2t then quad but no stoppie or wheelie excise .

Went to Pioneer Creek Road, and had a solo blast around there for my last ride in Victoria. Got the **** outta there now, never going back.

Wasn't a great ride, don't know where any tracks are, was just looking on satellite images for somewhere that looked good. Blasted around a bit, found 'Woodalls Track' that was pretty steep, but that was the only really cool bit. Lots of downed trees to hop, everywhere.

Now I'm out bush near Wynyard TAS, and can go straight out the driveway into tracks!

Went out to Lidsdale with a couple of mates and rode some nice flowing single track. Explored some old single track that had become overgrown. Lost the track but made it through by following the gully until we found a firetrail. Come back to the cars and fired up the gas cooker for some sausage sangers and xmas ham. Then back out to try and figure out where we lost one track. Turned out be a great day Sydney copped some rain but where we rode was nice and damp and we only had one brief shower.

Ahh......just got back, rode off the front porch followed some fire trail type track bit of a hill climb and sat an looked at the view for a bit, dropped into the valley testing out the new firetrail through the creek, some hill climbs and descents then along the valley floor into some rocky stuff and then some flowing track and finally back to the front porch...........about 8 kay all up, great way to start the weekend

I havent ridden the Freeride for over a year - make me an offer.
I havent ridden the DR650 off the tar since the silly tourist season started down here - about a month ago.
My usual ride is solo, about 20kms tar (if I'm basing myself at Kangaroo Valley) or 40-50kms (if I'm basing myself down past Nowra).
Then its mostly firetrails for 40kms or so with a few excursions into easy single - remember I'm an old bloke punting a bush pig.
Looking forward to getting back to my midweek runs once all the yobbos piss off.

Rode yesterday in Sydney, short-ish, easy 3hrs top-end run-in with two mates - one on a DRZ-400 that boiled looking at a 20 degree incline. 19c, cloudy, heaps of grip, perfect conditions. Found some new s/t (not mine), ran into Aaron Wells on a new Sherco 250 Factory. Jeez, they look good..
