        I had to buy the shell premium diesel last fill in my cruiser. Got significantly better economy. Coincidence?

          Of course, the quality will not be normal compared to the leading brands. This is usually the case - I buy something cheaper, then I buy something more expensive, but of better quality.

            I've seen a measurable difference in economy between United and Caltex.
            30 yr old 1hz with 350k used about 1.5L/100km more when on the United puss.
            This was doing the exact same weekly 400km highway commute to work (same load, same tyres, same driver, same heavy right boot), measured for months at a time.
            The Caltex was a few cents dearer, but the real killer was that the United made it run a bit rough and the power felt sluggish.

            Some quick math indicated that it's cheaper to run the dearer fuel... in this case at least.

              Indeed 380, not to mention "possible" contamination of water, bacterial growth and varnish/build up in your IP from the cheaper fuel from UNited. I wouldn't take the risk, use the one fuel that the car likes I say
