Lots of great options to choose from. A popular 250-350/430 4T from a dealer that treats you well is the go for general dirt bikeing. If you end up a single trail hound and ride a mate's WXYZ and love that, you can always trade in for one to specialise.
My 300EXC is not for everyone. It's rough, it's noisy, it's harsh, it deflects, way too much power and vibrates too much. But I won't sell it.

yep and I bet you are one of those blokes that could ride a postie bike up s%it and keep up...(see earlier post) and good luck to you btw...i luv watching you guys going for it....(on a bike ) ...is it a 2010 300 exc by any chance? great bike

Postie bikes are all we had to start on haha. With no brakes.

2008 300, same same, 2008 - 2011 same series. My particular bike has x3 collar bones on it's score board from 3 different owners (inc mine).

I won’t sell it either, I tell everyone that I just like old shiit - old bike, old 4x4, and an old wife, and I love all of them. Lol.

              Funny you say that Andrew...
Mine is also often the oldest on every ride. Although mine's old it's in very good nick @~400hrs. I do like trying other's new bikes. Very tempted on a 350 something as a second bike.
I am the king of old shiit out this way : 2004 Focus, 2000 Patrol TD42, 2008 KTM, 1992 WR200, 30yo ride on mower. We nearly always have the oldest car in the car park.

I'm pretty sure I have the same hard parts pipe you sold me 10 years ago.

I sold you a pipe? Was that a muffler? I remember getting a muffler instead of an FMF pipe in the mail from overseas which I on-sold rather than go through the returns process.
And my GQ patrol is a 1988 model! Ill never sell that!

Thanks everyone for your answers and advice, I have read them all and will take them into consideration for sure.

Haven't bought anything yet, I am working away from home and will be buying something when I get back to the promised land, which I hope that day is not far away.

I will let you all know what bike I go for, I can change my mind in a matter of minutes but I am pretty sure it will be an offroad this time haha

About the user name Coles Radio. The new Gas Gas livery reminds me Coles' logo, hence my Paint job on the avatar to make my imagination become real. I found funny the combination of a Coles mx bike and the name Coles Radio all together as if it was a Team.

Btw, as of today, chances are to get a 250/350 4T and not a 2T as I previously preferred.

                      I'd factor-in quality riding gear, tow-bar & trailer:
ie. Budget of 15k. 13k is bike & 2k for the rest.

Don't be shy to negotiate sundries if via a shop.
Consider security too: Insurance & gps tracker.

Yamaha Finance is good? Comments please?

That Which Doesn't Change... Stays The Same.
Those That Don't Fall... Just Aren't Trying Hard Enough.

                        That's a good point.

I've got a ute and had in mind to get one of those bike racks that you plug into the tow-bar, which I already have. Don't have the room to have a trailer.

Yamaha Finance has a promotion for WR which is 1% interest for a minimum of 2 year loan, I am pretty sure the lady on the phone said it could be either 2 or 3 year loan. I forgot to ask if there is a settlement fee, she didn't mention any but I assume there will be something there.

Most of the dealers have good finance deals with fairly comparable rates. Be aware that low rate deals usually have higher fees that make up the difference to those with higher rates.

Also, a good dealer will do extra discounts or packages to get gear, accessories, bling, etc when you buy the bike.

Look out for what the bikes come with (bash plates, frame guards, hand guards, etc, etc) as a lower buy price can quickly end up dearer than others that come with that gear standard.
