How do you separate truth from the BS? I like to think I remain unbiased and rational, but I probably don't.. I certainly don't disregard everything I disagree with as a start.

One thing I noticed from my leftward leaning friends, is that the same ones who continued to push the #stay the f at home thing, are the same ones who are now pushing the BLM and disregarding their own advice. I guess my suggestion would be, if you're going to be vocal and make a stance on something, and publicly push your opinions on others then at least have the integrity to back yourself on the matter than changing when the rest of the flock move on to the next big thing.. guess that's virtue signalling at its finest.
A common thread I see amongst the most vocal from the far left and far right is an instant dismissal of certain media sources as justification for (more often than not) their ignorance.

One thing I've learn't over time is that there's always more than one side to a story, not too many issues are as clear cut as people like us to think they are, and it's impossible to even identify BS with only one side's version.

In this day and age, if we dismiss information based on the source's political affiliation, we'd have nothing left.

Also, it condemns us to become mindless drones that lack the ability to interpret and separate the truth from the BS. Pretty much in line with what we're seeing around the world with BLM.
A valid point there Trent. I'll freely admit that I can be somewhat apathetic at times when it comes to social issues, but I'm comfortable with this. I came to the conclusion a long time ago that whats happening in the world is not going to change one iota whether I pay attention to the media or not. So for my own well being I ignore large portions of it when I feel it appropriate to do so.

I'm very comfortable with my ability to analyse and sort truth from BS, I just think that life is too short to give any meaningful amount of my attention to those mixing truth with whatever else to push an agenda.

          Couldn't agree more.

I also think that to make any meaningful difference one must do more than focus on the media and pass comment online.

Spot on and I agree with your media watching too. It's all sensationalized beyond any benefit regardless of who writes it these days. Misleading headlines, and quoting social media platforms (twitter, Fb, etc) as credible sources. It'd be fair to label most of it as BS.

I am probably somewhat guilty of putting my head in the sand. My reality is purely my own perception. I try to keep it simple and bring value to the things I do. I don't do it for recognition or virtue. I just try to live by some simple principals of treating people how I'd like to be treated. We can all agree to disagree as long as you can reciprocate that. Only things I'm truly against are pushing your beliefs down others throats, lying, and stealing.

Sounds like you're just getting on with things in a manner that is strongly influenced by good old fashioned values. I'd like to think I am doing the same.

That'd be entertaining, been in the CBD working over the last week, it's bit boring at the moment.

I know nothing about the tests but it's been implied there's an element of subjectiveness to them, can't imagine that's true but it seems even the Gold standard test aint great.

One lab I know of was getting a 50% positive rate. Seems the positive control was handled badly and has contaminated their equipment.

Essendon player Conor McKenna has told the ABC he has tested negative to coronavirus in his most recent test.

He said he was unsure what the most recent negative test result meant for his quarantine and training arrangements.

The positive test on Saturday triggered an investigation by Victorian health authorities and the cancellation of Sunday's scheduled match between Essendon and Melbourne.

McKenna has been in quarantine since the positive test result on Saturday.
I dunno what's going on here, was he just on the tail end of it or is it an Essendon AFL testing thing. :violent-s
