Yer "Essential worker here only means essentially at work, even if that's just bashing a ball around, where's the outraged minority sticking up for those poor balls.

Only if you want it to be.
Out of interest, did you watch the vids or choose to heed the warning?

I honestly believe Avi does a pretty good job of exposing nefarious cops & politicians.
Certainly better than any msm 'journalists'.
Besides, I balance it with a regular dose of friendlyjordies!

I realise that Avi's focus on power hungry closet communists makes him unpalatable to many on the left, but he's a rare voice in modern Australian media.
Apart from the ******s at Sky, who else is shining a light where our majority leftist media dares not even look?
If you have better sources I'd be keen to check them out.

Tuberculosis was the cause of one death in nine in Victoria in 1902
This should help put things in perspective.
TB caused 11% of deaths in Victoria in 1902.
CCP Virus linked to 2% of deaths in Victoria in 2020.

It sure is nice of Dan to give you all a week off for Chinese New Year

I have no issues with the lockdown. It's a necessary evil IMO. Lets hope that 5 days is all it takes.

I'm not sure what to make of the ongoing quarantine related breakouts. Is it too much to expect that the quarantine system should be flawless at this point in time, or is that unrealistic given the changing nature of the virus? The fact that a quarantining traveller was using a nebuliser when nebulisers were known to be a spreading risk and thus banned from use in NSW Hospitals for a good while when the pandemic kicked off is perplexing at best.

Don't get me started on the tennis, I think it's f***ing appalling that it's gone ahead. I've just heard on the tv that it will continue as it's considered essential work. WTF???

Localised lockdown, yes, the entire state including regional areas that have never had a case, hell no.

The only reason they do these short lockdowns is because they've lost track of heir contact tracing.

Let's not forget the crowds and panic buying these lockdowns create. Great way to guarantee a quick burst of intense close contact for the community.

Doubt he could get the cops on board for a ring of steel on short notice so the whole state suffers.

Of course they should be on permanent standby.

NSW, SA, WA and QLD have all managed localised lockdowns.

As for getting the cops on board, given their eagerness to arrest pregnant mothers and the like, I doubt that would be an issue.

There's no way to spin this, Dan seem more interested in his personal power trips and grandstanding than actually doing his job.

I'm going to assume that the larger number of cases of the more virulent strain being detected is the motivation behind the shut down of the whole state.

Andrew's admitted that the pace that the UK strain moves at would be too much for the contact tracing to keep up with. That and the inability to enforce lockdown's in some areas and not others.

Whether this is acceptable or not good enough, I can't say as I don't pretend to know what the governments capabilities are in this area. However, I think he is being as transparent as possible in this instance. He's leaving himself open to criticism, by acknowledging what he thinks is possible and not possible for the sake of the public good.

I have said all along I would prefer our leaders to over react than under react, and I stand by this.

A 5 day lock down will be chump change compared to the cost of a prolonged wide spread lockdown if it gets out of control and infection spreads to the other states.

                          • I heard the sound of a million regional Victorians groan.

For the noodles that think wrestling with arresting Police officers is a great idea and will somehow result in the fairytale ending from the cop "ok you are too wriggly, you can go" - better get a lawyer son, you're gonna need a good one. Very stupid. If you have done nothing wrong you likely wouldn't be getting arrested. That gentleman obviously failed the attitude test and there are many more in line to follow in his foot steps. In my opinion, so be it.

More infectious, Virulence is similar to the previous strains and could turn out to be slightly less.
