The bullshit rhetoric about the Holiday Inn UK strain is about how fast it travels, not forgetting it has no means of self propulsion.
It's so fkng fast we're up to 14 cases, seems pretty fkng slow to me.

Andrew's admitted that the pace that the UK strain moves at would be too much for the contact tracing to keep up with. That and the inability to enforce lockdown's in some areas and not others.
Whether this is acceptable or not good enough, I can't say as I don't pretend to know what the governments capabilities are in this area. However, I think he is being as transparent as possible in this instance. He's leaving himself open to criticism, by acknowledging what he thinks is possible and not possible for the sake of the public good.
I have said all along I would prefer our leaders to over react than under react, and I stand by this.
A 5 day lock down will be chump change compared to the cost of a prolonged wide spread lockdown if it gets out of control and infection spreads to the other states.
Sorry, there's no polishing this one.
Short local lockdown and better quarantine management yes. Locking down areas like Mildura, hell no.Total Tools Penrith

those poor folk who have small business and pressure, **** it must be hard on them.
Sadly our gov has chosen big business and BLM and anti Oz day over ANZACs, small business owners and regular people,...it dont matter if you are lab or lib...this is wrong and i dont think it aligns to traditional values of either party...its just wrong.

Mutant Strain May Not Be As Infectious As First Thought:
Expert Microbiologist Professor Peter Collignon says the mutant COVID strain appears to spread faster but it’s still not clear if the virus has changed or if was people’s behaviour a month ago
Apparently we have few people in Hospital throughout Australia and even fewer in ICU - mostly of the vulnerable demographic as seen earlier . .Time and tide . .

I've said before the test results being positive or negative are subjective but people are happy to claim I'm wrong.
Well here we go again, they couldn't decide if she was positive or negative, chose to go with negative WTF, yet claim they know what strain it is based on genomics, fkng Morons.

- from The Australian :
A three-year-old child among new cases detected in Melbourne, but overwhelming majority of close contacts test negative, health authorities say.
20k + tests
- so perhaps this is not the UK (or any 'super') strain OR these so called extremely contagious variants are not so contagious after all the hype . .
*still no extra hospitalizations eitherTime and tide . .
