  • Maybe ask the shop owner:
    1) Happy to accept anyone, vax or not?
    2) Happy to only have fully protected clientelle
    3) Happy to keep my doors shut for everyone just in case.

I'd imagine there would be a range of answers depending on how close to bankrupt they are...

Sssoooo, if you needed jeans during lockdown and went to grumpy ****ers to buy them you'd have only needed a mask, but after lockdown ended you need to be double vaccinated, to shop at grumpy ****ers, the worlds gone mad.

On the upside in Vic, Mitchell shire comes out of lockdown tonight ( I live in Mitchell, but do what I like anyways) because we've got a high jab rate, well that was the first reason given, but whilst I was typing they said it was because of low infection rates, who knows.

OK well you said this "...being made to feel like an outcast as they don't discriminate."

To me you appear to be implying that the shop staff are discriminating, whereas they are simply abiding by the law. You also correctly provided the maximum penalty reminder for us, thanks. So I was mearly suggesting to you and others to consider that the shop owners and staff may feel differently about the law and the potential confrontations.

I do feel sorry for the shop owners and small businesses. Some of them may be ok with some confrontation and arguments, so long as they can make some money to feed their kids (or pay the lease on the Mercedes Benz).

              Yer the laws are stupid.

              Never worth an argument.

First lockdown I bought a Coffee, franchised shop employee wouldn't take cash, no biggie, paid with card, wouldn't touch my cash but had his hands all over my coffee cup and lid all the time breathing over it, I never argue but occasionally point out the absurd.

Did you ask him/her/it how many shots they'd had ? If 2 claimed did you ask for proof ? Or is it free to infect you but not you it ????

Settle down people, I am not having a go at the shop owner or staff I was pointing out (somewhat subtly I may add) that the local store owner is slapped with onerous restrictions whilst Bunnings (amongst others) is allowed and has been allowed to operate with almost impunity during the lock downs.
As OMR pointed out it is a slippery slope when we are "pitting" people against each other in the so called name of "doing what is right".................

Ha yep that's how it is.

Interestingly, I'm also wondering about shop/business owners requirements to be vaccinated. We have no idea if our kids swim school teacher is vaxed. Common sense would say he has to be. I admit I haven't read anything to that effect. All the hoopla is about the business deciding to mandate staff and the orders saying patrons have to be vaxxed. What about the principle lurking around in there? Curious if anyone knows.

                          • Looks like the covid checkins is a complete farce , unless you are with telstra and or a optus [ some areas]user with a unlimited data plans and top of the line phone, those with prepaid pay $2 a go [works or not][5 shops =$10] , it hardly if ever works . The NSW card is a complete fail, retailers who have the scanners have given up as it doesnt work , apparently hardly anyone if contacted it there is a spreader in the same place you visited either way .

My daughter was teaching kids swimming in a community center up to and a bit through Covid, she doesn't plan on going back to it but thinks it is a requirement, she's fully vaxxed anyways.
