  • Let's build an electric race car.

Should be an electric dirt bike but that'll end up too heavy with batteries.

We could take the easy way out and get a Chevy E-crate package, but China's not far from us so maybe we can build our own package.

Class doesn't matter, just a moderate sized sedan for easy battery packaging.

So the first question is, what do we do for a battery pack, say we need a couple of hundred horsepower for half an hour ???

Brought a pushie hub motor in 15 odd years ago, Porsche did a car with 4 85ish years ago. Too much unsprung weight for offroad surface compliance though.

Have you encountered Bill Sherwood in Qld? He was building an electric open wheeler a few years back, and has a solid race car background.

He is/was active on Performance Forums.

Also Munyard on this forum was building e-MTBs that blew the doors off anything that was available at the time - it matched/beat his YZ450F to 80kph.
He’s an elusive fellow - he’s a mate and lives 40 minutes away but I haven’t seen him for five or six years now - but maybe send him a PM and see if he can offer anything.

My very limited knowledge says that the hard parts will be affording a battery and tuning the controller.
