  • What's it cost and how to enter?

G'day. I've been thinking about doing this series and I've visited the website and I can't seem to get the info I need.

I'm a member of the Ballarat Rovers MCC. What else do I need to do to be able to enter this series? (Apart from ride fast - which I can't really do consistently yet)
    Thanks for just being human.

Entry fee is one thing, the actual cost you will have to ask my wife.

$270 race license $75 per day of racing, then there's that farrrkin transponder that's nearly $300 or about $40 a day to hire ?? then there's the motels and travel.... it's not cheap. You need to own a motorcycle store like keg. But in your case it's would be Karl's.

Ultimatley this series cost me about $9,000 last year when it was all said and done.

The cost of a racing weekend's acccommodation, pub food, entries etc was only about $500 or so (I never camped which is cheaper) but I had to work up a lot of time to get the racing weekends off work so I only ever worked extra shifts for time off not for the overtime $ so the cost was really a personal thing for me since I only had less than half of the race weekends off work

I also paid for two motel rooms because I had my fabulous pit biatch Longo along with me as well (I'm good at sandwiches not spanners). I cracked my case at the Wonthaggi round smashing my way over the concrete culvits and needed a few other mechanical repairs along the way but actually spent less than $2,000 on tyres, tubes and all parts. Again, Longo did 90% of all work and repairs for me.

It's a nice chummy atmosphere in the pits and there's a lot of helping each other out going around too. Longo was my pit biatch but of course he was pit moll to Keg, PigDog, Disco and Team200 with fueling and some mechanical as well. I won't be racing every round next season but I think he plans on going. If he does, I know for a fact that if you need help in the pits he'd give you a hand

Sounds about right for Vic series. I worked it out roughly last year + Hattah + Yellow Mountain and a few club rounds adds a few grand to that as well.

                  So,

                  $275 - licence
$750 - entry fees (based on 10 events) maybe more, maybe less..
                  $300 - transponder
                  $2000 - spares and consumables
$1500 - fuel and camping shit
$400 - cheap crack to get through the 2 dayers
                  $700 - incidentals

                  _____________________________________________

$5525 (not incl. crack, get it free from Toothless Harry down the road)

Man, that equates to roughly 0.14% of my annual earnings, bullshitly adjusted.

Somehow, I don't think I'll be able to commit to that.

Oh well, at least the pros can rest easy that some drunken *@#&*@#&*@#&*@#&wit from Geelong isn't just gonna come in and take their titles away from them after all the hard work they've put in and all I've done is smash stubbies and ride once a month. *bs

I'll just try and do some more trailriding and a few more club events for 2010.

I'd definitely like to visit a few VORC rounds though.

I erection that's a pretty conservative value too. Although you might argue you'd use the spares and consumables if you were to go trailriding instead anyway.

I'm not sure how much VORC i'll be able to afford next year... I reckon just one trailride a week is a good 7+ grand a year.. and that's with no bikeupgrades or trick bits. Time to become a crack whore.

i dont reckon i spend anywhere near that much on racing!

licence, and club membership, $300 + entry fees.
(leaping log rounds are $40, NSW state enduro, $150 for 2 days. camping is available at pretty much every race, transponder hire is included in entry fee)

if you do a blue light/apex ride etc. it will cost you about the same as racing a 2 day state enduro, but you will only do half the riding, and spend that stuck behind some hack

things like the 4day get exxy.....$500 entry, a week accomadation...

i usually spend up on spares for the 4day, like a fresh top end/tyres/chain/sprockets/wheel bearings/air filters....but they last me most of the year after...

the spares cost the same as going on a weekend trailriding every month...so you cant count that in the racing budget ! (and dont tell my missus any different)
whether you think you can, or think you cant....
either way, you are probably right.

That would equate to about $4mil pa - if you earn that much dough, what are you worried about the cost for? Or is Bullshitley the operative word

If it only cost me 14 cents in every dollar I make to go riding/racing for the year, I wouldn't blink at it. Go camping and run the same tires each round. You'll be right.

What does Kurty's young bloke say...."It is better to be a racer for 4 minutes than a spectator your whole life."

I ran half worn tyres for the first four rounds as it was sand based riding. Then I think I ran the same tyres for at least another four rounds as well which included using them to ride/train inbetween. So over the whole series had three sets of tyres.
