  • 2017 300rr bogging

I've just done a full rebuild on my 17 300rr after a big end bearing failure at 235 hours.

Engine went back together all fine with no issues however while doing the initial run in at home I noticed that the bike was bogging a bit and wouldn't rev out. I initially put it down to extra oil I added to the fuel to run in but even returning to normal didnt fix it.
I've had the thing apart 10 times trying to find issues.
    things I've done.
    Checked rhs main seal.
    Cleaned carb
    Checked pvalve Operation and orientation.
leakdown test. (Only 0.2psi drop over 5 mins at 5psi)
    Tried 3 different plugs.
Changed coil (old one showed low out of spec resistance on secondary coil)
    disconnect OI and run premix
    checked pulse module

bike starts almost instantly but seems to load up with fuel (i believe rich) cleans out in the midrange and pulls but then occasionally drops out again up top. Bike also seems to shut off when on the overrun and isn't firing unless some throttle is applied. Coming to a stop bike then wants to stall.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm out of them!! I'm coming back to a carb issue after today's ride but after all I've tried who knows. I didnt touch the carb during the rebuild and it was running OK before the rebuild.

As a quick first test, turn the fuel tap off and ride it. If it suddenly comes good just before the float bowl runs dry then it will be carby related, not ignition or mechanical.

    Also check the ignition timing.

Yes when fuel tap is turned off it does seem to fix itself before it starts racing. Would this also make you think its too rich as it runs ok as it leans out?

Yes. Have a close look at the float height and whether the needle and seat are shutting off properly.
