Gas Gas Australia need to lift their game, it's great that some parts are interchangeable with other brand of bikes but for specific engine parts, especially consumable parts such as the Bendix cover (yes they wear out and need replacing) they should have ready to go on the shelf... But instead they seem to be more focused on selling the new bikes!

I went through these guys, postage took 7days. Just select ship outside UK but in EU and select VAT free to get the item even cheaper.

      • Did 96km of singletrack on mine yesterday & didn't hit reserve! Still 3L left I reckon. KTM200 & TE250 both needed fuel by 70km.

        • I pressed the magic button on mine! Brap straight to life. No cable upgrades, just removed some paint here and there for a solid earth.

          She's reaaady!!

          • I took it out of the van at work this morning so I could move some other bikes around, and at the end of the day I put it back in the van so I can take it out for a ride, probably on Sunday.

            Is it Sunday yet?

            • 2 days in a row, flawlessly.

Day 1 Yea buxton and back, about 120 clicks
Day 2 around Strathbogies for another 100 odd clicks

Averaging about 10km/l, room for improvement once I get the head done.
Right now its running with 42p, 178m, nedw#3. 175 was a bit lean at sea level in the sand @wot, 178 was a bit fat for the bogies.
Rode mostly on pilot and needle anyway, only a hint of spooge around the out hole.

12 hours on it now and the boingers seem to have finished softening up

I seem to be chasing PV settings a little, might bite the bullet and go 13:50 before fiddling much more with it.
Of note - PV was 3! turns out stock, LV likened it to the crazy kind of pussy you don't stick your dick in - or if you do you do its on a one off dirty weekend away. Now its 1.5 turns out with no attitude at all, almost wants the lights off before it gets naked.

Have it back to the frame almost in the garage at the moment after a good wash and a check over for any wear spots. Only one of note is top LHS radiator is very close to the tank with P-Tech radiator braces fitted. They aren't rubbing but a bit of extra hose or rubber on the frame to lift the top of the tank should separate them enough.

Only new complaint is the springs on the gear lever tip and foot pegs are sh!t, do yourselves a favour and replace them, probably the rear brake return spring too

Overall I'm ecstatic with my first 300cc 2 banger and my first GG. The handling, brakes and motor are all sooooo strong and provide such a balanced package, one can't help but grin.

              • I had to space the tank up to clear the left hand rad with p tech braces too.

No idea on kms.. Haven't done a decent ride yet. Sags are in ball park before break in.

Head has been cut to spec.

Jetting is 42 NEDW#2 175 and she fires and runs clean. Minor tweak to float height and idle setting only. AS at 1.5 turns.

Looking forward to riding the tits off this thing.

                • 42 NEDW(2/3) & 175-178 seem pretty close for both 250 & 300s with XC or EC pipe. Nice.

What's wrong with the springs SSB?

                    • They have simply fatigued really quickly.

I replaced the one in the gear lever after 2nd or third ride as the tip was flopping about like my 46 yr old other equipment. The footpeg springs are no longer under any tension with the pegs in their resting position.

                      Why ? NFI.

edit, added picture of gear lever tip enjoying the breeze

                      • Don't know if you blokes have checked or not.. but on all of my gassers the rear brake line has been routed in such a way that it rubs against the back of the engine cases and wears a nice groove into em. Usually slacking off the line at the master and just moving it a few mm back creates clearance, or you can zip tie the line back a bit.

My 2018 is no different to my last 2 in this regard.

Haha was just looking at this the other day! Has a rubber hose protector so wasn't too worried. Can ya get clearance without it touching shock spring?
