I just did mine now.. Definitely has clearance between case and spring.. but in either case I'd still prefer some rubbing against the spring vs the cases.

    • Any of you punters thrown a PV chamber spacer on to increase volume? I had an 8mm plate that Dave at TSP milled up for me moons ago.. (I think I had 3 of them actually).. anyway, a single fits perfectly on the new models while still allowing clearance to the stater.

I know I gave one to my dealer at some point.. he probably still has it.. and must have sold my other one to someone else.. I'm using the one off my prev bike.

      • Bloody hell mate stop throwing bits at it and ride it! 😜 I am hanging out to read your ride report! Iíve done nothing to mine apart from TSPíing the head, a NEDW needle with 40 and a 172 main and wound the pv adjuster out to 3 turns. The motor is sensational grunts and smooth straight off idle. I was previously going to change the gearing to 13/50 but it doesnít need it now.
I could probably go up a spring rate front and rear but donít have the cash at the moment and it is only when I really get up it that I notice.
Finally get to swing a leg over mine again tomorrow, hanging for it! Iíve had it a year already next month!

        • I even pulled the exhaust can apart to have a squiz at the guts of it before I even started it.. ^rof

          She's ready to ride now..

Slapped on the AXP bashy this arv.. bit of a pain in the arse getting that on, but all into place. Epoxied the foot on the side stand too. I don't think I have any more to do.. However I would like to get an XC start button to add instead of the golf ball.

Into it about $800 so far..
          TSP headwork
          AXP extreme bashy
          PTech braces
          P3 Pipe guard
Removed most wiring.. only headlight e start left
Removed front brake switch for banjo bolt
Double checked torque across the chasis but mostly lower triples and alignment
Checked sag, no adjustments made yet
GG handlebars removed, replaced with Renthal Twinwall; cross bar removed; grips my fav
OEM throttle body and cabling removed for G2 Ergo quick pull and Motionpro slidelight T3
Mods to tank mounting to clear rads properly
Pissed off the choke cable for a plunger
No wet mod to flywheel, removed paint from cover where starter mounts for good earth
Chain replaced with DID VXII, sprocket up to 50T Supersprox stealth.
8mm spacer added on PV, still need to see where the tension adjuster has been set from the factory.
GG kicker replaced with Yamaha YZ.

Bloody good list of work on a budget!! Brought to you by Jakes tight arse racing tips!

Initial impressions around the yard are 'it's a bike!' Feels familiar already. How long until I tear the sides of the seat cover out? Usually doesn't take long.

Yeah Iíd like one of them too. Maybe move it over to the right hand side.

Yeah.. I added to my previous post.. But I agree. Green button on the right, red on the left would be more user friendly.

                2 quick questions

Is the PV spacer to stop the rattle that starts just before it operates?

Are Yamaha sprockets cross compatible ?
Without pulling it off to check, it looks like the 125's sprockets will fit

One of you farted just before she got here, now she thinks it was me.

Do you think there's any chance that if we create enough interest that we could get Dave to make some more and add them to his catalogue?

                    • Naahh..

The PV spacer is for the left hand side. Mounts between the cylinder and the cover. When the PV is closed the drum valve opens to this cover increasing the volume of the exhaust. Theory is that it gives a bit more low end grunt.

                      See: https://www.checkpointoff-road.com/p...er-valve-cover

The addition of the e-start means the old covers don't fit anymore. The 8mm spacer uses the OEM cover and allows ideal clearance of the starter motor. I'll try get a photo.

If you have a rattle it can be the tension of the linkage arm, or the linkage plate has rattled against the cases in some engines. Either way it's rhs engine cover off to investigate and adjust. See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI0fUUHaDjQ

I have always used OEM front sprockets. I don't know of any crossovers.. that is not to say there aren't any. As far as I know rear sprocket only crosses over with the old Italian huskys. I pay big dollars for the Supersprox Stealth ones, but they usually out last the rear brake discs on my bikes.

                        ProX fronts apparently.

OEM has usually been Talon. They hold up alright.. Usually go through a couple of fronts to the whole set.

You could ask him if he still has the cad on file. Wouldn't be hard to punch out a batch. He did these for me quite a few years ago now.. But I'm sure there'd be a market for it if they were priced alright.
