CRF250R kick starter compatibility

Hi all. Kickstarter on my '08 CRF250R is broken.
Aftermarket starters are readily available for 2010 onwards but not so much for earlier years. Does anyone know if a 2010- lever will fit anyway?
Bend appears slightly different. The spindle is a different part number, but I can't tell if the splines are the same.
