  • E Start on TE's

Hey guys, was going to look at a 2010 TE 310. Owner has removed the e start due to the the 'right angle gearbox that mounts the starter motor' breaking off a number of times. I have read these bikes have issues with the e start and can be up graded but haven't heard of them breaking off and and causing oil to leak from the housing leaving you stranded in the bush. I asked if it was an easy fix and he stated it's easier to remove it and just use the kick start.

Anyone had this issue? At my age I don't want to be out in the bush kick starting a bike.

I had an 09 te310 with the old style motor (didnt change in 2010 but all new model in 2011 had the Xlite motor)
I never ever had an issue with the estart. i was even tempted to remove the kicker it was that good.
I think the newer Xlite bikes had engine issues including the starter.

I'd say strange to have any issues, but anything is possible...
