  • KTM 300EXC-E Map switch

    Hi guys

My bike was fitted with the KTM map switch already no the bike, Have not played around with it due ot not much time to ride.

Can any of you tell me what the map settings are in the on v off position?

Is the switch worth getting? Can you actually tell the difference?

i would say yes a switch is worth getting you will tell the difference but the ktm switch is very expensive for what it is,and its quite big and bulky, a light switch will do the same job or gas gas do a smaller one

definate difference.......it just seems to make it struggle in the top end, reducing the power available and smoothing it out in the higher rev range, so power band is not as agressive. It sounds like it is getting strangled
no change in the lower to mid rev range.

I got a 2 position HONDA XR killswitch from the wreckers for $10 (it is the same as the KTM 2stroke killswitch) and wired it up in about 5 mins....
that is it on the LHS of my bars.....
whether you think you can, or think you cant....
either way, you are probably right.

Have you changed your engine kill switch or are they different to the 300's because of the electric start button? My kill switch is bigger and gets bumped into the off position at times by my body armour.

that is the stock killswitch on the right of my bars...i forgot the 300 would be different because of the electric start
Does the 300 have the same killswitch/startbutton as the 4strokes ?

I keep the killswitch where it is as the throttle assembly/cable over the top prevents accidental hits....

                  get a switch!

My two bob = get the switch, you feel the difference and sometimes you want/need the change.
Mine is a $25 Yamaha light switch. Works fine.

I disconnected the wire on the 08 450 i was riding (no switch on it).
It was too cranky of a bike to ride single track easily, it was nice to tone that thing down a bit
