  • Upcoming Sur-ron "STORM BEE" full size electric bike

It looks like Sur-ron are expanding their range of offerings to include a full-size electric bike.

Sur-Ron will put the milestone product, a full-size electric MX which may be called STORM BEE, into the market soon. STORM BEE will be powered by the racing level powertrain, which is developed by Sur-Ron itself. The frame will be forged aluminum alloy high-strength frame. Battery will be 10C discharging high-performance lithium power battery. The stroke for both front and rear absorbers will reach to 290mm. The road legal versionís brake will be armed with ABS system.
It's going to have a forged aluminum alloy frame, much like the Light Bee I have, which ought to be decent. It's meant to have and "advanced deceleration gear box", which I think might been Chin-glish for a reduction gearbox - presumably a mechanical version of the belt-based reduction drive the Light-Bee has.

Here is some possible specs for the bike posted on Facebook:
Peak Power: 16.5KW for the 72V version, or 21.5KW for the 96V version
    Top Speed (sport mode): 90km/h (72V), 100km/h (96V)
    Top Speed (turbo mode): 100km/h (72V), 110km/h (96V)
    Acceleration - 0-50KM: 2.0 seconds
    Acceleration - 0-70KM: 3.3 seconds
    Acceleration - 0-80KM: 4.3 seconds
RANGE: 72V Version approx 125km @50km/h (no word on the 96V version)
    BATTERY: 72V/70Ah or 96V48Ah
Tyre Size: Front 80/100-21, Rear 100/90-18

I'm definitely interested in it. I have had great support from Adam who is the Sur-ron importer in Australia, so I am confident that the support will be there if it is actually manufactured and bought to Australia.

10,500km, nice work. I'm on 6k and was getting a little nervous about unexpected problems. Feeling better about it now.

David Knight has zero mechanical sympathy in pursuit of his goals.
If he can't/didn't break-it.. That's a quality endorsement in my mind.

"zero mechanical sympathy"? I would totally disagree with that. Maybe it's not exactly what you meant? If you watched that first video you posted (which I did several months ago) you would know the extreme mechanical lengths he goes to, in his own workshop, to set up a bike for his liking. Yeah, but you're right, Sur-ron definitely chose the right guy to properly test their Storm-Bee.

Yep: Maybe I could/should have phrased that better.
David Knight expects alot from equipment & himself.

He knows what he's capable-of given his equipment.
                  If he-were to break-it.... That'd cost him the race-win.

I can't a new Hinson each ride. Essential at his level.
He's sympathetic enough to know when a no is a no.
