            The WR-R is a great bike for a small niche. If it was a 350 or 400, then the DRZ400 would be dead - but being 'just' a 250 and relatively high priced forced it into a niche.
            It is a vastly better bike than the XL250 that dominated the sales charts through the 1980s, but time moves on and so does the market's wishes.

            Still a little surprised that it was axed without an apparent replacement. I assumed that they'd repeat what they did with the TTR250, YZ 2-strokes (etc) and just keep churning them out and being happy with easy sales, even if the sales numbers are low.
