  • Six maps

For anyone who doesn't know about Six maps, it's a NSW gov program for mapping NSW it has contour maps which can overlay satellite maps etc. It's great for checking out potential routes for new rides.

Yep, I always use six maps. It has a nice feature to toggle lot boundaries on/off, this is a good way to try and stay out of private property because lot boundaries aren't always obvious when riding.

And Lots/Boundries is great for checking if fences and Private Property signs are legit or not.

Regarding boundaries, its pretty rough for the most part - and some are way off.
I recently had a convo with a gold hunting mate about crown roads through properties, if they are fenced and gated there is a high chance that section of road has been leased by the person with surrounding land.
We get people come into work (Surveyors office) all the time claiming they own land as shown on Six.. Its a good tool but not all that accurate

Yep and in my experience, no one knows who owns what in some areas. I had a very heated issue with a land owner regarding a road, it wasn't gated or fenced or sign posted, he still decided to pull his rifle on us.

I went though every authority to find out if the road is public, I still don't know ...
