    • Yeeeeaaaaa

      Welcome back!

You know why the guys jumped to it when you had your off? its because we think you are awesome, we love you man. But seriously, i love our group, it just goes to show how much we are all there for each other when it goes tits up and its a great feeling to know your mates have got your back and all the support you need will be there because we look out for each other without even realising it - from what im hearing though, Steve seems to love you a little more than everyone else, although it wouldve been hard to resist the skins i spose ^rof^rof

      • Glad to hear you're doing OK!
Sounds like there was a great response from everyone at hand and it seems there will be some interesting discussions coming from this unfortunate incident.

I guess now you'll just have to take the summer of the bikes and enjoy the boat and some fishing while the weather is perfect. :grinning-

No doubt you can all answer that question for yourselves.
For me it varies between being about feeling, living, seeing, doing. The magic interplay of skills and environment.

Why do I ride with other people?

Until last Saturday, I would have leaned most heavily on the answer of ?I love spending time with my mates? and that is as true now as it ever was.
But last Saturday, I fell off my dirtbike and gave myself a brain injury which took five days of memories from me.
And it left me with such an appreciation of all that remains, I just felt I had to say thanks.

Thanks to Sandy, who has been stronger for me in the last week than I?m sure she thought she could be.

Thanks to my regular riding buddies, who, apart from the usual, went above and beyond in support of me and Sandy.
From mopping up at the scene, to putting my bike (sort of) back together, cleaning it, storing it, and transporting it back home for me.

I am profoundly humbled to be thought of as your friend?

Huge thanks to CareFlight, Gympie Hospital and RBH staff! Mega great support!!

And thanks for every breath that goes in and out of these lungs. They are all magic.

I?ve had help to write and post this, so I can?t say how long till I can get back to any comments on the forums.
It?ll be a bit of a journey coming back to fitness. But we bikers do love a challenge!

I?ve asked Baz to take over with organizing the fab Maidenwell ride (once again I miss it!). I?m confident that he will keep the ride suitable for Snailers, and will look after yas with a fantastic route.

          All the best,
Ride safe and enjoy every minute.

          Strumm
Sorry to hear about this Stummer !. Must of been the weekend for it as mine was the worst I'd had as well. Although yours was much worse, I still can't walk properly as my right knee is still a bit swollen... I'm so glad I had knee guards on.
Anyway, hopefully you're up and about and back to 100% soon !.

              • Good to hear your on the road to recovery

                Andy and Jo

Glad to hear things improving. I think a " let's remind Strummer what he promised Steve whilst delirious" BBQ is in order in the next few weeks. When you feel up to it I am sure we could rustle up a good crew to toast you and Jo and help out with some bike and equipment expenses.

On a serious note, you were very lucky last Saturday week and what I would take out of that is.....get rid of that adventure bike....dump the KTM and buy a 300 2 stroke and harden up!!!

Strummer & I discussed it a few weeks ago as well.

Our place is somewhat central (Deception Bay) with a large under cover entertainment area, 3 spare bedrooms (2 with beds even lol) and heaps of room for swags in the entertainment area.

                    • Hey Strummer, a couple of years ago you took the time to PM me with words of encouragement after I had a decent get off. I would like to return those sentements and wish you well. Hope to hear you 'strumin' soon.

                      • if he's up to it i'll be dropping in briefly to see the bloke today.

i'll run the idea by him of a get-together and possible time frame... may take a while though as often noise, lots of conversations and a different environment can be tiring for quite a few weeks after a concussion.

kawasaki glenn and i have been discussing a bit of a whip around to help pay for any bike repairs and a new helmet. will hopefully discuss with strummer this am and get back to you. and chat with the mods so it's all okay within forum rules blah blah.

                        • WOW - hope you're feeling better Strum and glad you are okay :grinning- and I ditto to EVERYTHING EVERYBODY is saying as you are great bloke and a huge asset to the dirt bike industry.

Alot of us wouldn't be doing the stuff we do now without the organisation of the snail trails and caterpillar track rides and the time you have put in to help us out - thanks.

Also a huge well done Sandy for having to look after him, iI wouldn't wish that on anyone Haha

                            • strummer update

strummer's not looking too shabby considering... definitely got all the stuff that comes with very serious concussion and he managed to handle a full 30 minute visit (but then most people find 30 mins with me tiring ). fingers crossed for hopefully a full recovery in five weeks or so.

he said to say he's been incredibly touched by the overwhelming support he's had by PMs from everyone, i don't think he realised he's affected the lives of so many on two wheels.

he's very keen to catch up with everyone but definitely won't be able to handle a big social occasion for several weeks at least. dead keen to get back on the bike too but again that's a fair way off at this stage.

sick leave has run out so he'll have to go back to work asap, i'll organise something so that if anyone is interested we'll at least get the kato patched up and get a new helmet for him.

it's been incredibly tough for jo too and while i didn't see her today i'm sure she'll be very appreciative that so many have been thinking about her too....
