        GETTING STRUMMER STRUMMING AGAIN

A SPOT OF CASH? SEND ME A PM
guys, thanks for all the support. heaps of you have sent PMs asking how to help financially. asked the mods if one low key post about this would be okay but haven't heard back. hope i don't go against forum rules, but if anyone would like to help out with a bit of cash, send me a message and i'll give you his bank account details. please note, there'll only be private acknowledgments and thanks so no one feels pressured into helping out.

i know plenty of us are doing it tough so no pressure whatsoever. and nothing huge, just thinking maybe a spare twenty at most. so many of us have been on strummer's ride it would only take half of us doing this to take the pressure of him and jo! i'm hoping it would get any kato parts that aren't donated in case he needs to sell it, fund a decent replacement helmet and anything extra can go to the rent.

        GETTING THE KATO SORTED
thanks again for everyone's generosity here.

keithy, cheers for the magura bars. can you PM me and we'll get that sorted?

pale rider, that rear tyre sounds perfect. PM me thanks.

antman, very generous offer. obviously strummer's kato has a fair few scratches so was looking more at used plastics in good nick. be a bummer to use someone's brand new ones! what are yours like? mind if we grabbed the radiator shrouds and blinkers? _scott_ has already offered up brand new shrouds but told him the same thing, prefer used ones in good nick to not break up anyone's brand newies!

i know some of your are up on the sunshine coast, so if anyone regularly does the trip to brissy and wouldn't mind bringing donated parts down, let me know. i'm in highgate hill.

GOOD COOKS? BIT OF SUPPORT FOR JO
ryan ('young-gun' on advrider) cooked up some food for me to take over yesterday, how good is that? jo had to go back to work yesterday so perfect timing, just one less pressure off her. and she has been through the wringer too. i'm sure she'd appreciate any PMs you might want to send via strummer, as she is reading them out to him anyway.

        • I only started riding early this year and if not for the likes Andy and Jo there is no way I would be riding even half as good as i am now or had anywhere near as much fun! Some of the most genuine people I have met in a long time.

I am more than happy to chip in a few clams to help out financially or towards some new parts.

I think after Strumm's (& others) efforts this year to help raise money for Mel's Finke campaign and seeing the success of it all, maybe we could organise a ride and BBQ to help raise some coin for Andy & Jo??

sounds good, curtis. a few guys have been making similar suggestions.

normally i'd jump at this but pretty snowed under at the mo. anyone good at organising stuff like this? we'd need to run it by the mods first if posting here....

interesting to note, when i saw strummer yesterday he said what a bugger he couldn't go on the maidenwell ride as he'd been planning to pass the bucket around and raise funds for charity... still not thinking about his situation but what he could do for the community. he's obviously got a few screws knocked loose. ^rof

There may have been some loose before the incident. Maybe that is what caused it? Few loose screws behind the bars??

As far as organising a ride & BBQ: My knowledge of tracks isn't any good (spend too much time trying to stay shiny side up!) but can organise some snags, etc for the BBQ. Don't have anything big enough to cook on tho.

                • Sorry to hear about your off Strummer. Hoping you make a speedy recovery. Its not very often these days you come across a person who's so passionate about what he does and donates so much time to helping out others and making them feel welcome to be involved.
Would be a real bummer if you had to get rid of your pride and joy, hopefully with the help and support of others we can change that situation.

As for bike parts i dont have to much to offer.
Got a spare brand new front tire if its needed ( i wont need it)
Got a pair of cycra hand gaurds (white) not very old, couple scratches)
I do have a set of oem blinkers of my 2012 ktm but missing one lens.
Stock ktm muffler of a 2012(dont know if it fits?)
Stock plastic radiator shrouds (as new, once again unsure if they fit aswell).
                  Front and rear standard tubes.
Let me know if any of this is of help barry.

Look after yourself strummer and hope to see you out there again strummer.

                  • Bergman - Mate, I actually have 2 sets of plastics complete (without airbox & side number plates) sitting around the garage. One set is original KTM with decal inlays on the shrouds etc, the other is just original orange with no decal inlays. Both including the little side airbox covers )where steg pegs would normaly go). I also have the 6mm screw\bolts to go with it.... & the front fender gromets for under the tripple clamp.

I'd be glad to support Strum, plus it'd give me more room in the garage!!! Just let me know which plastics with or without original decals you\he wants or would suit best. The spare blinkers are just sitting around as well, I'l chuck em in the box as well mate. The plastics are for 2013 450 exc model, pretty sure it's all compatible anyway.

I'l chuck in some cash also, so send me a PM when you get the chance with bank details. I can't send plastics for another week & half cause I'm in Germany atm.

Awesome, only met Strum a few times, but have seen what he has done for DBW community. Outstanding person & this is my chance to give back a little. Very happy to help out, didn't think twice about it. Cheers.
                    Cheers.

                    • This slid under my radar (not sure how I've been in a lot lately) hope your recovery is a quick one Strummer, really hope you can keep the bike & get back on it ASAP.

Ant, I don't think they are the same plastics 12-13 are different to 11 except for maybe the front guard.

any kato experts who could confirm this one way or another? i reckon your plastics with stickers would be perfect in that case, ant!

i'd be very happy to lead that curtis, and just do strummer's favourite tracks or similar. just a bit too busy with other stuff at the moment to do all the organising but if someone wanted to start a thread and post the ride? might need to check with the mods if it's called a fundraiser. but maybe no need if the understanding is we are chipping in for a bbq?

thanks wuzofoz, will definitely keep those bars in mind as a backup.
and thanks to 500club too, great to have all those parts on offer too.

this is scott's birthday video from the imbil weekend. only just got around to finishing what with all the hoohah going on. a few of us were saying its incredible how far scott has come along in a year, getting very smooth and controlled. don't tell him that though or it will go to his head. ^rof

i made sure we had all his stacks in for that reason. especially his ktm levitation up one of imbil's worst hill climbs.
