Yeah my crew will have a blast... few more hilly bits out our way I reckon. Might have to cut out a few hills just to make it more enjoyable for everyone.

Havn't been mud larking in ages... should be fun. Just a bit worried about the clay areas of the trail..... we'l have a go.

      Have fun.
      Cheers.

      • Wow this isnt happening unless i have a boat.

If all that rain magically cleared up for everyone then have fun but I got to Landsborough turnoff and could hardly drive so figured I'd come home and do a training session in the pool instead.

        • Is it the CJs pastries "now open" on the highway or is there another one 10min further in Woodford?

          Edit:I'll head to Woodford l

                • Well, it wasn't sunshine ALL the time we were out - but never enough rain to spoil a really fun ride. Thanks Stummer and crew

                        • awesome ride, thanks for organising and leading strummer, and bob for sweeping. lots of rain on the way up but near perfect conditions at woodford. eventually there was a bit of rain but it cleared up again.

some great tracks, favourite moment were following zimmo and strummer over a series of jumps and watching them cross it up in unison. and jo zipping through a gnarly rocky slippery uphill section smoother and with less dabs than anyone else in the group.

                          !psm

                          • Getting off Scott free

                            Getting off Scott Free!

Well, the two Scotts, Leanne, Melissa and Mick unfortunately missed out on one of the best rides I've had in ages. What a brill day!

You could have been forgiven for thinking it was nice weather for ducks... And you'd be right.
I came across a couple of em, swimming around in a puddle before we showed up to ruin their bath.

9 riders braved the threatening rain to line up at Woodford bakery bright and early. Me, Jo, Craig, Baz, Bob, Jabba, Dan, Zimmo and the 'youngest' rider in the group - Big Ed Bethell.

A very light shower at Woodford gave way to semi- sunshine as we set off on some excellent flowing tracks. Sand, whoopdees, jumps and lots of corners, peppered with the odd patch of slippery clay or mud. I can tell you that more than a few 'whoohooos' emanated from my helmet as we barrelled along with Baz in the lead and Bob cleaning up at the rear. Pressure was on, as Zimmo, Jabba , Craig and Dan were hot on my heels, and as usual, I was full stick trying to keep up with Baz.

By the time we got to Woodford Glasshouse road, the adrenalin had well and truly done its job. I was grinning from ear to ear!

                            Dan looked pretty happy too!

Sadly, Big Ed had succumbed to a punctured rear tyre, and had to bail early. Bummer.
I was going to ask some of the older, more experienced riders to keep an eye on Ed, and they would have been fine with it.... If they could catch him!
                            Ed, you are an inspiration.
If I ride half as good as you when I'm your age. I'll be over the moon!
Ed bailing, meant that we were back to 8 riders. The max number I had originally set for the ride, which was cause for a bit of a laugh, after 14 riders had signed up for it!

                            Still no rain....

We set off down the powerline track, big red, triple step and more.
A few eyes like poached eggs as we hit the more slippery bits, but we were warmed up now, and I was determined to find some new territory.

                            Bob gets it done!

It amazes me, that as much as you ride in Beerburrum SF, there is always something new to discover. It's biker heaven!
We did a continual mix of tight single, open whoopdees, sand tracks, clay pits, log hops and rock climbs, many of which I had never seen before.
And at 10.15 when a light rain finally began to fall, we were grateful for it.

                            Starting to get pretty hot.

We found plenty of deep water to ride through too, so atleast the feet were nice and cool.

Dan makes it into the hall of shame on this water crossing

But I will say this... you get deep into a lantana track in summer, on a wet day, and I'm buggered if you can see where you're going! I had to stop several times and share around the paper towels for the lads, as we just couldn't see the ruts and holes in front of us!

                            Craig on the powerline track

Craig and Jo catch up after a long time no see.

Fortunately, the light rain only lasted about half an hour, and we were soon back to barrelling along the open twisties.
By about 1pm, some of us were starting to look a bit worse for wear, with a few silly fatigue mistakes starting to happen (Zimmo was witness to a couple of mine!).
So we decided to head back to Woodford for a hot potato pie and a chat.

                            Jabba on his 525

An absolutely top day, so thanks fellas (and chick) for the company. Lets do that loop again one sunny winter's day!

                            Video is on the way!
