pretty much what Pale Rider said. The Snail Trail rides would be great to get out for a friendly ride at a social pace. Otherwise definitely keep checking the rides pages for a beginner ride as they do get put up a number of times a year.

Welcome to DBW, and I'm glad you got motivated by the videos!
I hope to do a few very easy rides in coming months, so if you want to join in you are most welcome.
Like Scott and Pale said, keep your eyes peeled for easy rides on the forum and if you are slower than others, no big deal. Most people are kind enough to wait around a bit.
Just always ride within your safe margin!

Hello people. Would you happen to be planing a ride in the very near future?
I just bought my first bike in 12 years and it is my first dirt bike in about 20 years and I am looking for somebody to ride with that is not just going to blast off into the mountains leaving me to find my own way.
So far I have only done 35klm on my new bike (450exc) and all of them at QMP with no real problems on the medium trail apart from it all being single trail!
Strummer's youtube videos are what led me to this forum because they look like the sort of thing I want to do!

I have to work out a way to line up a bike in Brisbane and fly down for a weekend to catch up with you guys (& girls) and have a ride.

PS: I'm currently looking to get rid of the WR and looking at a 2012+ injected 250/350exc-f.....anyone know of some good nick second hand ones about !psm

Although I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of fuel injection.

Guess I will have to get with the current technology eventually.
Really like my carby Kato though.

I had a ride on a 2012 250sx-f with powerflow head and some ignition remapping this sunday just gone. All I can say is WOW!!! compared to old WR it was night and day different. Fell 100x more comfortable on the Kato, had tonnes of power, beautiful suspension, light and flickable and went exactly where I pointed it. Was something like 20secs a lap quicker round the MX track on the Kato than the WR :speechles .....and it was only a short track. Lol. Bike has been set up for enduro and raced in the Qld Enduro series a few times. It even did AORC round at easter this year. Really, really nice bike. Too bad it's an SX-F and not an EXC-F

Easy Curtis, ya leave your new bike at my place (Ill need to ride it occassionally to keep it running good n battery charges up ) and keep your current bike where you are, then when you come down you could go for rides and fly back..

Cheers for the welcomes guys! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for rides posted up here.
Already brought myself up to speed on how snail trails works, simple and logical works for me!
I had a couple of good days riding in ormeau hills on the weekend and got some more experience on the bike but was alone with nobody to set a pace or tell me when I am doing it wrong!
I have been watching some YouTube videos and one thing I know for sure is that I am slow!

ok with out highjacking strummers thread if you want a beginners ride i will take you out,just start a thread saying its going to be a easy ride and others will come,i can do sunday if thats any good,make it a 9am start at woodford or steve irwin rest area

or send me a pm if you want to keep it small
