  • Another great ride, thanks to strumm and john for lead duties and the various sweeps on the day, very slippery out there but lots of fun-I sat out the slippery hill and it was entertaining watching the others get back up it.

Only negative is getting back to the car park to find my guard mounted tool bag had ripped open and 3/4 of the tools are now scattered throughout mt mee-bugger time to re stock the tools and find somewhere else to keep them thats twice I have lost everything out of it.

      What a top day out!

Thanks to Hutch, Craig and Den for taking turns sweeping.
Big thanks to John for taking the lead most of the day, allowing me to play mid pack... WOOOOHOOO!

I apologise to anyone who copped a bit of roost from the rear side of my kato, but you can take solace in the fact that I received much better than I dished out!
Hutch in particular filled me in a beauty on a deep mud patch. And Sandy got me with a couple of puddles.
Ahh, the joys of mid pack riding!

I think we had 12 riders at the start, a good sized group for this sort of ride. Unfortunately the sloshy conditions proved a bit much for Big Ed's trials tyres, and he had to bail early.

Never mind Ed, I still managed to get a bit of video of ya!

We did the usual array of legal tracks. A break, western escarpment etc.
And the variable conditions meant it was a real fun interesting ride, with plenty of variety in track surfaces.

There were quite a few humorous moments throughout the ride, like when Andrew got a flat rear tyre.
We encouraged him to fix it, as it was too early in the day to call it quits, so up the bike went onto a mound, 10 of us removed the back wheel (8 to watch, 2 to do) and John was kind enough to do a quick tyre removal to patch the tube.
I joked 'This is when you realise it's only the valve!' and we all had a good laugh at that.

I walked off to do something or other, and Den came up to me and said 'You'll never believe it.... it's the valve!'

Reckon I could hang out a tile that says 'Psychic'.

More laughs were had on the bollard track, as Andrew decided to entertain us with some 360's in the red clay. Very funny stuff, and I got it on video, so you'll never live it down mate!

Sandy and I finally got home at 5pm, after grabbing a pie at the bakery, and watching the boys pulling over every second motorbike for speeding, then catching up with Chris (25ktm) and his lovely lady in Dayboro, then stopping at a nursery for some plants, only to find the guy who owns it is a bike nut, so we had a bit of a tour of his stable. (1969 Jawa 50 sitting there in perfect nick).

I'll get some vid up in an hour or two.
Thanks lads for a top day out!

          • Thanks for the great day out Strummer, my 1st trip to Mt. Mee was fantastic! Wonderful Queensland winters day, keen fellow adventurers and a chance to learn more about the new bike. After John's assistance with the flat, (valve caps chould be worn at all times) thanks again John. I gave myself a couple of scares working out how much I could loft the front over the woo boys and managed to avoid parking it in the bush. I did find working out the clutch/throttle balance on the slippery hill a challenge, the rear end passed the front end a couple of times, check out Struum's footage. I had the camera on for all 3 of my stacks but it looks like I am chasing a large red/brown soccer ball after about 3 minutes. I have never before been the recipient of so much roost but it was all in all a product of the conditions and recieved in good fun. All in all a great ride, fun was had and I have come away even more in love with the KLX. I found I have to be more consistent gripping the tank so my arms don't grow longer and it is significantly lighter than the XR to pick up. Thanks again to Strummer and the gang.

Glenn, maybe look at the bumbag arrangement. Best bit of luggage I've ever bought. My guard mounted bag lasted exactly 5 minutes! Crap idea. It just doesn't handle the enduro terrain.

                • Strumm, Really enjoyable ride. That was about my standard of my riding these days. Just sweeping fire roads, a couple of hill climbs and creek crossings. Thanks for letting tag along. :grinning-

By the way, for anyone on the ride I recorded the route on my iphone which overlays it on google maps so you see the satelite image overlay which is pretty cool and gives you a really good overview of the area.

Just send me your email address and I will forward you the email link.

Maybe but have had a bumbag before and didn't like it,kept unclicking on me,I then went to having them in the camelbak but wanted to get some weight off me and onto the bike, might go back to having them in the backpack and be smarter about what I put in there,I tend to carry more than I need.

What brand do you have strumm?,only reason I got rid of mine was due to it unclicking, either poor quality buckle or too much pressure from my pie gut

DERM has a map, same as the map on the side of the road at K break, but a lot on there is locked......

BIG TIP, the Western loop works better in a Clockwise direction, I have already had one big head on in there.

Should really be one way on that track.

                          • Thanks all for a top day out.

6th weekend in 7 I have been on the bike :grinning-

Knees are killing me and the rub marks from my braces are getting worse, almost looking forward to a weekend off the bike next weekend, almost.

Got 26 min of decent video captured, will cut it down a bit and cut some of the boring bits out where it is just me riding and post it up tonight.

I missed the spanner trick, whatever it was, when you were servicing the valve ^rof

Video uploading, should be done in the wee hours.....
