nice to see another S.A. bloke.

I am kind of in the same boat as you dude, I was thinking of joining DSMRA or AMTRASA and going on their rides. If you are interested in joining/going to the AMTRASA meetings let me know and I'll hook up with you.

    Cheers,

Amtra SA has meetings on the second wednesday of each month at the flagstaff hotel in franklin street at 8pm. I went to the AGM , and joined also, but due to race commitments till june have been unable to go on any of their rides.

They are a good mob, and are keen for new members. Following June, I will make time to catch up with some of them, and possibly yourselves when down in adelaide next (Based in Berri SA).

AMC, is your bike registered ? If your ever up this way, I can take you out for some longish rides . At the moment mapping some nice loops out to invite a largeish group of guys up for a 2 day weekend.

                      re no place to ride

If your sick of having no place to ride, your best bet is joining an active club. You have be sure to pick the right club, but if there are plenty of members, that is the best way to do more riding and discover new riding spots.

I'm a member of the Quad Riders Assoc of SA and we have an event at least every 2nd or 3rd weekend, either flat track, enduro, mx or trail ride/ camping trip.

Hey drwalker, pretty dry up on that ride?

I'm going to check out a ride starting at Jamestown and looping up around Belton and Holowilena on Sunday. Never been up that way. I read about your trip just before you went, it sounded like it would be good.

I'm a member of the Port Pirie Club, we have a couple of camp-out weekend rides as annual events. One is a beach run down the YP (Feb) and the other is in the hills nearby in Aug/Sept. We may try a Club trip up that way in the future.

We have a few guys who come up from town for them. Not a bad ride and a good evening of bench racing around the campfire.

youre ride should be good, I lived in p/boro a few yrs ago and we still have our house there so we use it as a base for rides, i know the belton johnburg area pretty well, its not bad riding. Holowilena across to hawker then the stn tracks to quorn thru to wilmington is a ride we have done before. At easter we rode to yunta then sth to burra and back to p/boro, the access track along the railway line from p/boro to yunta is not a bad ride.We have never bothered with joining a club prefering to con mates into buying a bike and upseting their wives in the process!Keep in touch we might be able to catch up with u sometime. Neil.

Did the ride yesterday, 11 bikes (mostly red650's, a couple of WR's and my lone orange one), 460 k's of VERY dry country.

Should have oiled the foan around the goggles, my eyes feel gritty today.

Only 1 flat tyre in the first 80km (not mine thankfully) was the only holdup.

Won't be the last ride I do up there. May even have to consider a big tank if it becomes a regular ride.
