  • Yalwal Trail Conditions Post Fires 2020

Thought I'd start a thread on trails that are open post fires.

    Honeysuckle is cleared and remarked

Northern Distributor is 99% cleared- some wattle needs trimming

F6 is cleared and remarked, a few diversions in place around big tree falls, ruts don't look worse than pre flood

Basswood is cleared with a lot of diversions (not the same old basswood)

Sandiman, you can get through. Needs marking. Its on my list

Penda needs a lot of work

Middle earth bikes can get through

    Monkey gum clear

    Mintbush clear

New Single called "the pillion" starts monkey ends penda, all ribboned. Needs bikes to cut the line, greenery 1m tall. Thanks to manboy for the hard recon work

    Unsure on:
    6 stage
    Yarramunmen s/t
    Tree root
    Dustys

Any more trails out there I need to check on? I haven't done all the work, thanks to all who have pitched in

A few of us rode Monkey Gum to Penda via new single "Pillion" back to monkey Gum via upper Penda. Upper Penda is passable, we re ribboned the bypass tracks as the greenery is almost head height...needs traffic to keep line visible.

Also put in new single, "pillion east", linking Monkey Gum to the power line easement directly opposite Cassia rd, look for pink ribbons, cuts out the Monkey Gum commute to Wandy.

Sandiman seems to be getting traffic, bypasses are obvious do didn't get ribboned.

Pillion East loop is open for buisness. Start across from cassia on braidwood rd, cross power lines and follow the pink ribbon. Comes out on monkey gum. Pillion west will be good to go with a bit more ribbon work to take place on Friday. Exit Pillion east and head 200m towards monkey gum lookout and look for pink ribbon on the left. Pillion west ends on penda. Note we need to ribbon the penda end a bit more to stop punters getting lost. East is pretty easy, west has some steep decent and creek diversions around old log bridges. Follow the line to cut it in.

I was reading some old threads and found this one from 2013.

                  http://www.dirtbikeworld.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=99703

Griffo mentions a single was planned to link yarramunmun s/t to Penda.

Does anyone know why this never happened or where it is was planned to go?

I did some recon last weekend, the creek looks like really steep country on both sides?

There's been a bit of chat about Perch Hole Express recently, has anyone taken it on after the fires/floods

New single " Crack 'N' Back" ribboned and ridden.

Links Monkey Gum and the top of the escarpment at George's Yard (off Braidwood Rd, links to trail 600m NE of Wandean Rd turn). Northern end comes off start of Pillion West, look for pink ribbon.

We need another ride manboy. The wr is getting some love. All new bearings. New radiator hoses and guards plus a service. Hope to be back on the bike within 2 weeks.

Seems DBW is going live on so I thought I might try to revive this thread ....

I took 5 bikes through the northern section of Penda Rd on weekend. I could see some trail work had been done for most of it but the last couple of k's is like a jungle.

My riding bud is about 6 foot 3 and whilst standing on the pegs he was swallowed by the regrowth. We need to ride this trail or it will be lost forever.
