  • Request for info about Murphy's Creek & TMCC

I've been out to the Toowoomba Motorcycle Club a couple of times for demo rides but have never had an opportunity to freely explore all the tracks. How many km's worth of tracks are available? Could you manage half a day or more of riding without going over the same tracks?

Also, I've never attended the Murphy's Creek trail ride. Is it held entirely on TMCC grounds, or does it also go onto surrounding properties?

We've been there a couple of times. Once for the Chris Birch training, once just recreationaly and twice for the MC trail ride.

Out of all the closed circuit parks I reckon its probably got the most trails for exploring. We got lost easily though so not sure how much ground we really covered.

As for the MC trail ride it goes on the TMCC grounds and private land. We stay in Toowoomba and usually get on the piss Sat night so Sunday is usually a non event haha.

It depends what you prefer to ride.

There is some fairly tough trails there if you know where to look. You can spend a few hours doing 30 klm.

It has quite a few trails for what it is, next time your there ask around most people will let you tag along even if you're not Romaniac ready.

We treat it as a training ground. I have other areas I can explore fire trails on, one I've ridden since the mid 80's and I am STILL finding new stuff.

Murphy's to me is like, a mate says oh we found this ridiculous trail that nearly killed us all to death, wanna try it?

Sure and your car is there, you can try settings and stuff with a decent tool kit waiting for you.

I was a member for years but let it lapse this year because I am not riding as much. The clubhouse has a board outside showing the arrowed tracks which would keep you busy for yonks and then there are heaps of other tracks which aren't on the board. It's like Jonno said you can have a casual day or really wreck yourself in a couple of hours. The membership is cheap $150 for a single or $200 for the family and you can ride there all year as long as there is not an event on and camping onsite is encouraged.

The worst thing is the pub being closed ( unless its reopened )

So it sounds like there is plenty of tracks to keep me entertained without repeating the same tracks in the same day.

              Thanks for the responses.

It's so much better to tag along with others. I really prefer finding stuff on my own generally but Murphy's can be a bit of a labyrinth until you get the feel for it.

I'm a member but don't get there much. There are 3 main tracks from memory and they are always adding bits to them. Last time I measured they were about 30 kms all up and not super difficult but there are a couple of hill climbs in there that do shrink the winkie a little. There are other tracks that spear off from these main ones and then come back on at different places which you can stumble on to make it more interesting. The block is about 500 acres & it is pretty well marked where you will leave the tracks and get onto private property (signs politely say pls turn around at this point). The club has done a great job with the grounds and you can free camp for an overnighter. There is also talk of a shower & toilet block coming which will make it even better. The club management are very active and should be congratulated on the amount of work they have done. As others have said, tag along with some of the regulars as they do know how to loop up different tracks. You have to be a club member to ride there which is $150 single or $200 family which is pretty reasonable given the ability to ride and camp there whenever you want. There is also a Facebook page called TMCC members only (or something like that) that people post rides etc. on. Only down side is that there seems to be a lot of weekends where the grounds are booked out for events (pony express, vinduro's, etc.) so that might clash with your time off. Enjoy ^roost^roost^roost

I think I'll join, but I'll hold off applying for now as the membership is for the calendar year and I don't fancy spending $150 for 2 1/2 months membership.

I watched the video on the home page and realised I'm in it briefly (from the first time I ever rode there last year).
